The main character in this story is a Glitchen. Glitchens are by definition genderless. They may have attributes resembling males or females and Glitchen may profess themselves to be of a certain gender, but there are no physical, emotional or mental differences. When I started writing this story I decided I wanted to make the main character someone that any reader could easily imagine themselves as. I knew if I described the character as he/him they would be more difficult for female readers to identify with, and vice versa for males reading a female character.
I took some opinions, got some good advice and in the end decided that the simplest solution would be to provide two different versions of the story: One describing the main character using feminine pronouns where appropriate, and the other describing them using masculine pronouns.This may seem like a lot of unnecessary work to some people, but I feel it is important in writing this story so that anyone can enjoy it in the same way.
The two version are identicle (or should be unless I missed something while editing) with the exception of the pronouns used to describe the main character. All other character have assigned genders which will remain the same across both versions.
How often will this story be updated?
My goal is to update this blog with a new chapter every week. I don't know how long it will end up being, and some chapters will be shorter than others, but I would like to have something new to post every Monday until the story is over.
I am also considering posting non-story related posts in between chapters, such as articles related to Glitch, other things I've written set in the world of Ur or anything else I think might be appropriate, just to keep things interesting.
What is a Glitchen?
A Glitchen is the race of the player characters in the game Glitch. Glitchen live in Ur and do all manner of ridiculous things, chief among those things being jumping. A lot. Glitchen personalities range as wide as those of the players controlling them and the community was a large reason people continued to play as long as they did.
What is Ur?
Ur is the main setting for Glitch. In the game it is a world dreamed up by the 11 sleeping giants who imagined everything in the world including the Glitchen. The world as a whole is referred to as Ur, which is then broken down into smaller regions (i.e. Groddle Forest) and those are further broken down into individual Streets (i.e. Smallend High).
Glitch was an amazingly open sandbox game that fostered creativity by allowing players to use the hundreds of tools and abilities at their fingertips to create their own fun. There were quests and achievements, but the core of the experience was built on the community interaction and deciding what you wanted to do with your time in the game.
Where can I play it?
Unfortunately Glitch was too innovative for its own good, or was built on the wrong platform, or didn't have enough mainstream interest. The reason depends on what you read and who you talk to, but the fact is the game is gone and the internet is a less awesome place.

In Glitch I used the name WallCrawlingHero. I was imagined on Hairday, 29th of Remember, Year 23. I was a non-practicing Zillot. I had a Firebog Cubimal named Firedog and kept a chicken in my back yard named Alohomora; I set them both free (with love) before the shut down. I kept over 500 sheets of paper in my inventory next to a quill at all times, but I never got to use a fraction of them.
I looked like this most of the time.
